Transition Your Skincare From Winter to Spring

Spring has nearly sprung (yay!) Which means longer, warmer & sunnier days. But as seasons change, so does our skin. The harsh winter elements tend to leave our skin feeling dry and dull — so with spring on it’s way, it’s important to make adjustments to your skincare routine to optimize your best looking skin.

Keep reading for our top tips for transitioning your skincare routine from winter to spring.

Switch up your cleanser. Winter weather tends to dry out your skin and strip it of its natural moisture. But when temperatures start to rise, warmer weather allows your skin to produce more natural oils. Gentle natural AHA cleansers or gel/balms are a great, light option for spring.

Get rid of winter dullness by exfoliating. It's important to keep exfoliating into the warmer months. The winter wind and cold weather most likely left your skin dry and more rough than usual, so it's crucial to exfoliate and slough off those dead skin cells. Getting rid of dull skin and leaving your skin looking renewed and glowing. Ease into the spring months with a gentle exfoliant that won't be too harsh on your skin.

Use a lighter facial oil. Warmer weather means that it's time to switch out your heavier oils for something a little lighter. Thicker oils can cause an overproduction of oils when it's hot out, so use something lightweight and quick absorbing like our Hydrate Facial Oil that has skin mimicking ingredients to hydrate and protect but won't clog pores.

Incorporate antioxidants. Using products with antioxidant-rich ingredients all year round is important but they are especially helpful in the spring and summer months to avoid and protect against sun damage (in addition to SPF of course). Our Resurface Retinol Alternative Serum is rich in antioxidants and vitamin C to stabilize free radicals and decrease sun damage.

Keep using SPF. Hopefully you've been wearing your sunscreen throughout the fall and winter months but we know some people don't. Now that it's getting sunnier and warmer out, make sure you're wearing your SPF daily if you haven't been already. We recommend using a mineral SPF of at least 50.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. It's important to keep our bodies as hydrated as possible, especially as the temperatures start to rise. Start the day with a glass of water with fresh lemon, not only will this ensure you're hydrate but it'll also up your vitamin C intake, improving collagen production and giving your skin a healthy glow from the inside out.

Spring clean your beauty cabinet. If you haven't done a skincare cleanup in a while, now is the perfect time! Deep clean and swap out any applicators, cleansing pads, cloths etc. Go through your skincare lineup and get rid of anything past its expiry date. If there are any products you no longer use or need, get rid of them or donate them if they are unopened.
