Valentine's Day is usually focused on showing love to everyone around us — friends, family, partners... But are you setting aside time to show yourself some love and TLC too?
A great excuse to indulge in some extra self-care, treat yourself and take time throughout the day to pause and relax. Here are a few things you can do for yourself on V-Day and every day...
Morning rituals. I find that you really set yourself up for the day when you indulge in a mindful, slow morning routine. This can be 5 minutes, 10 minutes or even an hour each morning. Whichever works for you. Ease into the day by waking up slowly, staying off your phone for at least the first 30 minutes when you wake up. Drink a big glass of water (if you're feeling fancy, pour it into a wine glass and add some sliced cucumber, lemon or berries), make your morning coffee or elixir and eat a nourishing breakfast. If you have extra time, curl up and read a few pages of your new book or add in a morning stretch or meditation.
Write a gratitude list. What better way to show love to yourself than writing down all the things you love about yourself. Write down what you’re grateful for, what you’ve done that you’re proud of, progress, personal and professional goals etc. Positive self talk makes all the difference.
Take a long bubble bath. Epsom salts, dried rose petals, a bath bomb..the makings of a perfect bath. Give your body some time to decompress and relax. Bonus points if you add a few drops of our Hydrate oil to counteract the hot water and give your skin a little extra skin softening nourishment.
Meditate and move your body. A lovely way to start or end the day. Either way, taking a few moments to meditate will help you to reflect and destress your body. Helps to manage stress, boost your mood, boost your immune system and increase your mental health. The shift is so worth it.
Pamper yourself. Whether it’s an all out spa day or doing an extra face mask at the end of the day, take the extra time to pamper yourself! Indulge in your skincare ritual and be mindful between each step.
Buy yourself flowers. Buying flowers for myself is one of my favourite things! Not only is it a simple and great way to show yourself love. But, just having flowers at home is such a great mood booster and really freshens up your space. I love having a bouquet in the living room and on my bedside table at all times!
Declutter your space. Decluttering your space is a really great way to clear your mind. Calm the chaos and get your space ready so you can create a relaxing, peaceful sanctuary.
Create a peaceful sanctuary at home. Set a calming and relaxing mood in your space. Light some candles, dim the lights, diffuse your favourite essential oils, put on some music and cuddle up with a cozy blanket and glass of wine. Perfection.
Make your fave meal or order your fave takeout. Eating really is one of the most enjoyable things in life. Relax, and order from your favourite restaurant. If home cooking is something you enjoy or one of your love languages, do that!
Treat yourself. Chocolates, a solo lunch date, a new book, or a massage. Whatever it is, it's always nice to treat yourself to the things you love most!
How do you like to practice self-care?
